1/30/2024 0 Comments Hillside vetIn all situations, the staff performed above and beyond expectation, and were kind and diligent. Molly has been seen for an occasional injury such as when she hurt her paw. Due to the high needs of older dogs, we find ourselves at the vet frequently.Examples of the more extreme visits include stabilization for Rocky after a breakthrough seizure event, and later on a tumor removal from his spleen. Her former families recommendation was a solid one, and I plan on passing it on. Molly has been going there since a pup, and she was rehomed with us due to a baby being born that ended up being allergic to her. Rocky has epilepsy and they've been treating him since we adopted him right before he was euthanized at the Dallas animal shelter. I have been taking my pups Molly and Rocky to Hillside for over two years. I would highly recommend anyone bringing their pet here to constantly ask about what charges they will be incurring as there is a clear lack of communication from the clinic!! Read Less It seems very clear to me that this clinic posted a bunch of bogus charges to make the bill come right out to what we were quoted as an estimate. It has now been two weeks later and we are still waiting on that call. When it was pretty clear we were not getting anywhere with the explanations, we were told that we could have a supervisor call us within the next couple of days to review the charges. When I explained to them that the math on that did not come anywhere close to adding up to the amount that we were charged, someone else was brought in who tried to explain that it was $135 for "every shift". When asking about the charges, we were told that it was $135 for each 8 hours. We most certainly would have picked him up after surgery had this important piece of information been communicated to us. When we went to pick him up and received the bill, it was noted that the surgery was $1,300 and then we were charged an additional $1,715 for them to watch our dog for 24 hours!! At no point during any of the calls from the clinic were we informed that we would be racking up an additional $1,715 in fees to watch our dog for a day. We received a call the next morning informing us that the surgery had gone well and that they recommended us to leave him there for an additional 24 hours to make sure he was doing okay. We were required to pay a $3,000 deposit before leaving as an estimate and we were assured that if the costs were less, the remaining amount would be refunded. After running some Xrays, they found that he had a piece of his collar stuck in his stomach and that it was going to require surgery to remove. My girlfriend and I brought our dog here after he had not been eating for a couple of days. I preach the pause when it comes to "well they're the only ones open now". I advise against Hillside with every new foster or rescue friend I meet. Big bills, long wait time, the animals always seem to die anyways. Everyone I've ever spoken with in rescue about Hillside has the SAME experience. Since then we never ever go in to Hillside in the middle of the night - we do all the things I'm pretty sure they didn't bother to do. Sub cutaneous fluids and a bunch of other jazz we had at home saved her. They asked to euthanize the last one and at that point we were like nah - we're walking out with one kitten. They'd ask: can we euthanize this one - come back and say they already passed. We spent over $400 to basically sit a litter of kittens in their back room for 5 hours while they expired. Never have I ever walked out of Hillside with a living animal except ONCE. I've never heard anything positive about them so looking forward to reading all these 5 star reviews I see.
